Thomas Edison expiremented with sound in film in 1894, resulting in a short sound film in 1895 that was never officially titled. Edison officially claims to have released a sound film in 1889, but no evidence of this remains. Other inventors joined Edison in his quest, resulting in The Jazz Singer, the first full length "talkie" film
