My sister had applied for her GC while in the U.S. However due to the sudden demise of our father, she had to immediately leave for India. Before leaving, she checked up with the authorities on the status of her application to which she was told that it had been approved and she would be in receipt of it in a few days. She flew back to India on her British passport with an H4 visa on it. She was told that her GC arrived the very same day in the U.S. The question now is .. How long is she allowed to stay in India before going back to the U.S as she intends to stay in India for 6 months till the situation with the rest of her maternal family here in India is settled. Could you kindly advise?
