Question

I have a stepson, whose mother signed all parental rights over to his father. Because I am married to his father, does this mean I also have the same parental rights?

Answer

No. You would have to do a step-parent adoption to have parental rights.

Answer

I agree with Mr. McCormick. I don't understand where all of this "signing over parental rights" is coming from. We are getting this question a lot. Agreements between parents not to go after each other for visitation or to waive spousal support are not enforceable.
