How do you know if car has enough compression?
You should first consult a repair manual for the correct compression. Once you have obtained that information, remove all of the spark plugs and disconnect the fuel injection system (often removal of a fuse.) Insert a compression gauge into the first spark plug hole by threading it in the same manner as you would the spark plug. Have an assistant crank the engine over at least four times to insure your reading reflects the "power stroke." Once this has been done, read the number on the gauge (usually given in either psi or nm.)
As a general rule, if most of your readings are averaging around 100 psi and one is down at 15 psi then you will know to look for a problem in that cylinder.
