What company made the first truck?
Nicolas-Joseph Cugnot built a steam-powered truck for the French Army in 1769. It was described as a "fire engine for transporting wagons and especially artillery". It was supposed to carry up to 3.9 tons and travel up to 4 km/h (2.5 mph). It was unsuccesful, as it failed to meet the army's requirements and was unstable.
