MVR points are given to you in the state of Virginia for variousreasons. Demerit points are given when you are convicted of atraffic violation, and remain valid on your record for two years.Safe points are given for every year that you don't receive anyviolations or suspensions on your driving record. The safe pointsoffset the demerit points.
