Not Receiving Child Support
My ex husband is currently 5 weeks behind in child support, claiming he is not working. He is a self-employed carpenter. Is there a "fast" way to get a court date and what normally happens when you take someone to court for not paying their child support? He owes me for the last 5 weeks of child support ($1750.00) and with 3 children, one of which is in college, I have had to borrow from family members to keep up with the bills. I am not able to provide for the children on my own salary. Please help, I can not afford an attorney.

You can go to the probate court where the order/judgment is filed and the clerk or "attorney for the day" can assist you in filing a Complaint for Contempt and a Motion for Short Order of Notice. If you get there as soon as the court opens, you will likely be able to appear before the judge immediately that day to present the Motion for Short Order of Notice which would give you a court date on the Complaint for Contempt ASAP.
