Question

My court order states, In excercising sole legal custody, MOTHER, shall have the exclusive right and responsibility, except as otherwise defined herein, to make all decisions related to the health, education and overall general welfare of the minor child.

What does the clause, except as other wise defined herein, mean?

Answer

That means that if there are other provisions in the order that sometimes gives you the right to make certain decisions depending on the circumstances, that is what it would be referring to. One example would be, if during your visitation time, something happens whereby you need to make a medical decision on an emergency basis.
