Question

I've got a job offer from a company, it has the standard "employment-at-will" clause there.

I'm thinking about asking them to add a "notice period" to the job offer so that in case it doesn't go well they'll have to notify me in advance of the termination.

Is this something that can be added to a job offer? Just a line stating this agreement?

Answer

Everything is negotiable. Getting the employer to agree to it without withdrawing their offer is the trick. If they want you badly enough they might agree to it. But if there was competition for the job, they might just move on to the next candidate who is willing to be an at-will employee. Only you can decide if it is worth the risk.
