What does the orange dash warning light in a Holden Commodore VS mean?
The orange light with the engine symbol (Holden Commodore VS) is a computer generated indication of a fault detected by one or more of the car's sensors. If one or more sensors detects a problem or combination of faults (eg pressure, shaft angle, etc) the computer generates a fault code which can be downloaded by a computer to indicate the exact nature of the fault. The driver only gets the orange light indicating one of several hundred possible fault conditions. All the driver can do in the immediate timeframe is check car temperature, oil level, transmission fluid level, brake fluid level, all belts are still on, fan is turning, noise from the transmission or engine, any other obvious condition not normal to the general running of the vehicle.
