For racing around a track, either Formula 1 or Indycar, Indycar reaches a higher top speed on their ovals than Formula 1 due to a longer distance to accelerate and more gradual turns, but with slight modification, Formula 1 could be just as fast.

Don't forget the cars, trucks and bikes they race at places like the Bonneville Salt Flats. Some exceed 450 mph.
