I live in California and have been married for almost 2 yrs. My husbands divorce decree from his ex-wife states he is to pay off the mortgage on her house. God forbid something happens to him, am I liable to continue to pay off that debt?
Answer
You wouldn't be personally liable. A lot of things would have to go wrong before any of his assets were being levied or taken by the bank, or even the ex wife.
