Question

May I have the "official" practice of the law and criminal charge when an institution, a hospital, during a session with a therapist, was "tipped" that a criminal act was planned and did not report it to local authorities. Is med/mal applicable or simply "failure to report" a crime.

Should I seek "civil" or "criminal".

Answer

Based on what you've said here, it is unclear what you mean. It might be that a civil wrong has been done by the institution. Not clear that med/mal is applicable. Might be. No way to tell without sitting down and discussing it. Find a lawyer in your area and discuss it. Most of us charge a small consultation fee, and sometimes, if the case has merit, we will waive the fee.
