Me and my sons father have a shared parenting plan for him. He has been moving around in different states for the past four years or so and my son is six. He sees him about once a year. He has a baby with another woman that he was married to and now she has full custody plus supervised visits after they divorced. He is very unstable and has PTSD. I was wondering shouldn't I be getting supervised visits and full custody if he is that much of a unstable and inconsistent person? Why does the parenting plan vary so much from one child to another? It's the same man that fathered both of them. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

It sounds like it is time to try and modify your custody order. The problem with orders is that they can vary greatly depending on the parties, the situation at the time, what each party agrees to, and which court it is in. There is no cookie cutter standard order.
