Question

I was pulled over for speeding in June '11 in a very small county in Indiana. I live in Illinois and wasn't aware of the court date. I missed it, then recieved a notification that my license would be suspended on Oct. 22nd if I didn't pay the fees. So I paid them Oct. 5th. The judge told me that everything was taken care of and that my license would not be suspended. Well, as I was driving home today, I had a broken tail light. I was pulled over and then arrested for driving while license was suspended. Even though I was told I was okay to drive by the Judge a month ago. Now my car is impounded and I don't have the money to pay for it to get out because I'm still paying $500 for the ticket and I will not be able to drive until Dec. 20th until I can get the Illinois judge to drop these tickets. Is there a way I would be able to have the Indiana Walkerton County Courts to pay for the impound and or any other fees this may cost me?

Answer

no. courts are immune from liability.
