If you signed a rental lease for a house which states the lease is from 2-2010 to 01-2011 and you never signed a new one but still live there are you legally liable or can you be sued for any rent owed beyond signed lease?



Answer

If the rent was to be paid monthly, the law presumes you became a month to month renter after the original lease period. you shoudl reread your lease agreement to see if it automatically renewed. If not, you are not likely ob;igated to pay any rent one month after you leave or give notice of your intention to terminate the month to month lease.
