Question

A friend of mine paid someone to get him pain pill. The guy took off with his money. If he goes to the police, will anything happen to him if he tells the truth about getting ripped off when buying illegal drugs? $200 worth.

Answer

As I am sure you already know, paying someone to get pain pills is just as illegal as taking medication which has been prescribed for someone else. More importantly, both the person who is "ordering" the pills, as well as the person who is buying the pills for someone else is committing a crime. I do not think it would be a good idea for your friend to go to the police to file a complaint against the other person who ripped him off because your friend will be admitting to the police that he committed a crime. I am not saying that $200 is a small sum, but by telling the police he was "ipped off", he will be admitting to the police that he was buying drugs and he can be charged and prosecuted for dealing in drugs.

Best of luck,

Answer

Since buying pain pills from some one is an illegal contract neither the police or the courts will do anything to enforce that contract. Also as has pointed out you will be arrest when you report the "crime" to the police.

Ask yourself when was the last time you saw a headline like Joe Gotrocks arrested for stealing Pot Dealer's stash. Care to guess why?
