Question

I receive child support and I have full custody of my daughter. If I were to give my parents temporary custody how would that affect child support?

Answer

You would no longer be the custodial parent, and you would no longer receive child support. Child support is for the child, not for you. In fact, if you no longer have custody, you would then owe your portion of the support obligation to your parents. While they may not ask for support, if the child is receiving any sort of public benefits, such as a medical card, the county attorney will seek to collect that anyway.
