Is professional liability insurance required to practice architecture in California as sole proprietor?
Answer
Ask the State of CA. Architecure Board.
Answer
That would be via www.cab.ca.gov. I've been through the site carefully, and it appears professional liability insurance is only required if the practice is by a professional corporation or limited liability partnership. However, you should ask the CAB.
Answer
CAB rules or no rules, just how much do you want to hang your ass out there with no coverage? You really want to pay an attorney yourself if you get sued in a bull s*#t case? You really want to pay the judgment out of your own pocket if you make a completely innocent error, but serious error?
