Has anyone had a problem with water in the front floor of the 98 town car?
If it taste sweet it is coolant and you have a leaking heater core that needs replacing. If it is indeed water, your A/C condenser drain line is clogged. Crawl under the car, passenger side, and unclog the drain line near the firewall. Another possibility is your drain holes at the cowl below the windshield are clogged.Another possible AnswerTo all the folks that have the 1999-2004 Lincolns Navigators and town cars, act now even if you do not have a problem..The door drain on the very bottom of each door front and back. These are small opening that allow the water trapped by rain, snow, sleet to drain out quickly...The drains are fine they are shaped like a large paper clip on it's side and drain fine. The error of flaw is in the decorative cover over the drain slots. These are black plastic and when installed shrink the drain openings to less than a third of the size they were intended to be..Road dirt, mud splashes, soap scum from carwashing, and airborne dust and soot then then settle in the accumulated water in the door clog the small drains now created byt th plastic covers . Thus sloshing sound and in some cases even wet door panels on the interior of the car ,when you hit the brakes and come to a quick stop. You may see strange puddles in strange places around the car in the morning and the worst of all rusting of the bottom seams of the doors.Solution remove the covers and chuck them.. or remove them drill a couple of holes in the covers and reinstall them..While you have them off take care to unclog the drains and flush away or blow out the drain holes (another use for the canned computer air).. There may be some gunk built up in the bottom of the door from standing water and sludge, but now that is a difficult spot to clean..Be sure to check the drain again after a long heavy rain especially if you have been driving at speed in the rain 55mph rain will get into everything after a few minutes. Do what you can and the best of luck.A Lincoln fan.
