What colours do children use in art when they are being abused?
Children tend to use dark colours like black and shades of grey a lot in their art work. This signifies that they are feeling low and depressed, and want to make themselves and their work appear inconspicuous. If sexual abuse is occurring, children may also use red to signify blood and hurt.Their art work may be over coloured with striking slashes or scribbles. This is a way of helping them to relieve the hurt, confusion and anger that they may be feeling.Hope this helps.
