Why do people need the automobile?
1)To get from point "A" to point "B" in ways not that of a third world country.2) To save time rather than walking3) Needed for emrgencies4) Safer than walking/ bicycles5)Cars have permitted vastly more people to have homes of their own and yards. Before cars, suburbs grew up along the railway lines, but the number of people they could accomodate was limited.
