What happens to the air in a car tire as a result of a motorway journey?
During the journey, the tyre heats up and heats the air inside the tyre. The air then slightly increases in pressure. After the journey, the tyre cools down and the air cools down too, restoring the original pressure.
It is best to inflate tyres when they are warm so the pressure is correct when they are running.
