Question

I stopped payment on check for work that was not performed correctly. I advised the contractor of my action and requested that he fix the error before paying for the job. He made no attempts tofix the problem. 2 years later he cashes the check. In the memo area of the check is the reason for payment. I have the confirmation notice from the bank showing I paid to have the payment stopped. What recourse do I have?

Answer

Because you stop paid the check-the bank is responsible.
