I was stopped on the highway and Missouri patrol found marijuana and $2600 cash on me. I was told it was a felony and I would be issued a summons or called if there were any warrants. They took all my money and left me with $2.00 and a half tank of gas stranded at least a thousand miles from anyone I know. I was not issued any tickets, I was never cuffed or detained or in the police car whatsoever. How long does Missouri have before they should have contacted me? Do I have any recourse here? I feel robbed and taken advantage of, they basically stole all my travel expenses and left me for dead and I have heard nothing from them since. Please any help or answers would be appreciated.
Answer
You did not state when you were stopped and robbed by the officer, nor how much marijuana was found in your car. In order to determine what potential crime you could be guilty of, and thus the statute of limitations period, more information is needed. It is rare that a receipt or written warning was not given to you. It might matter which County you were in. You may email me if you wish.
Good luck
