is there ever early release from prison and if so how do you get it?
Answer
The California Department of Corrections has rules that provide for early release. Inmates charged with non-violent and non-serious crimes are eligible for early release six weeks before the end of their term.
With the new law called AB109 or Public Safety Realignment Act, most people will not even have to go to prison. However for people who were sentenced to prison before October 1, 2011, they will not get the benefit of AB109.
The only thing the inmate can do is not get into trouble at the prison because they will not get the six week early release if they loose their good time work time credits.
